Springfield - Emil Mantei, 63, of Springield died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Heritage Manor.

He was born June 26, 1943, in Germany, the son of Ludwig and Else Folwerk Mantei.  He married Lina Siebert in 1965.

Mr. Mantei was a physics professor for cummunity colleges, including Richland Community College, for 25 years.  He was a member of First Church of God.

Survivors: wife, Lina; two sons, Jeffrey Franklin (wife, Heide L.) Mantei of Warren, Mich., and David Sandburg Mantei of Belleville, Mich.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sister Milda Cline of Johnston City; brother Adolf Mantei (companion, Linda Scherf) of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services at First Church of God, the Rev. Jonathan Grubbs officiating.  Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
