SPRINGFIELD, IL - Marvin Lee DeGroot, 74, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born February 15, 1943, to Ira and Avis (Trent) DeGroot. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl; and sister, Marcella Fink.
Marvin had worked as a truck driver for Prairie Farms and Meadow Gold. He was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball fan, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, mushroom hunting and the Opry. He loved his everyday drive through the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
He is survived by his companion, Dell; children, Brian DeGroot, Karen Hunt and Sheryl Annis; sisters, Ruth Ann Hodges and Linda Jaynes; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Sorry to hear of Marvin's passing. We were both in the same class at Enos Grade School. We lived a block apart and played together for many year in our younger days.
