Loren was a friend of mine during our high school years.  I sat next to him in the Cappella Choir.  I remember one time when Miss Duncan made us all sing a hard part solo, she went right down the row.  Everyone kept getting it wrong and the closer it got to me, the more nervous I got.  Loren got it wrong and I got it right.  I remember feeling so bad I wished that I had gotten it wrong.  We talked about it several years later at the "Ware House" night club and we both laughed like hell.  I alway thought he was a nice guy and I'm proud to have called him a friend.

I knew Loren a little bit in high school, but really got to know him well after we graduated.  We both worked at the State Journal-Register and talked a lot.  Over the years, we would run into each other and he was always glad to see me and always had something to say.  The last time I saw him, I was in a restaurant having dinner with my Mother and daughters.  I heard someone call my name and it was Loren with his Mother.  I went over to his table and met his Mother.  Very nice man!

Loren was one of the friendliest people I have ever met.  I can never recall Loren being in a bad mood.  He always had something nice to say to brighten your day.

After high school I would sometime see Loren and local restaurants and clubs and he would always stop to chat and recall our good times at Lanphier
