Don was a person I met in grade school and saw frequently throughout his life. He was very passionate about life, his large family, especially his two daughters, and his work. In high school he excelled in both football and wrestling because of his tenacity and strong desire to do well. Because of a serious accident that occurred while he was a electrical lineman, he had permanent phsical injuries, which he endured better than most, but other medical issues resulting from the accident eventually took his life. But, Don never complained and always considered himself fortunate to have survived the incident as long as he did.

Recently, I visited with his daughter, Kelli, who had just looked at the 1961 Lan-Hi and asked me questions about her dad. I told her he was someone she could be very proud of and shared stories about his football and wrestling accomplishments as well as the type of person he was growing up. She was elated to hear those stories and I enjoyed revisiting what a great friend he was to me.
