James Joseph Sacco

Sherman - James Joseph Sacco, 66, of Sherman died at 8:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at St. John's Hospice.

He was born Sept. 1, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Fano and Josephine Giordano Sacco.  He married Linda Neal on Jan. 11, 1963.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sacco of Sherman; three daughters, Rachael (Robert) Lee, Christine (Brett) Jenkins and Jamie (Companion, Sammy Jackson) Socco, all of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Sacco of Ashland; a brother, Tony Sacco of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James was a lifelong resident of Springfield.  He worked for Sam's Alignment, The State Journal-Register in rural delivery and retired from the Springfield Police Department after 24 years.  He also retired as a Sangamon County Court security office after 12 years of service.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Church and Fraternal Order of Poice and a former member of Vintage Times Street Rods, Firefighters Lodge, Cool Cruisers, Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and the Roman Cultural Society

Funeral services at Christ the King Church, with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Private burial at Old Salem Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research, Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson's Foundation.

Opal Gail Keebler (Kimball)

Jim was a great guy and a great friend.  He and his wife Linda were both just great to know.  He is missed not only by family but by all his friends as well.  He remains in our memories.  All good ones.
